The White Wat ... aka Wat Rong Khun near Chiang Rai

The White Wat or Wat Rong Khun, just outside Chiang Rai is an incredible spectacle - a "gaudi-esque" come "dali-esque" construction in white. It is the inspiration and design of the famous Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat who started this amazing project in 1998 which is not destined for completion before 2070, hence he has a following of artists who he is training to continue his dream. The inner temple walls depict modern western imagery of spaceships, missiles, transformers and icons such as superman, batman, spiderman amongst others. Even Mr W, who has been dragged around numerous wats/temples, marvelled at its incredulity!
