In amongst the Orchids ... Singapore Botanical Garden

Orchids, orchids and more orchids - everywhere we looked there were orchids, each one more spectacular than the previous! Apparently the largest collection of orchids in the world in a botanical garden - I was in 7th heaven! A fairly useless fact to non horticulturists however, 25% of flowering plants in the world belong to the orchid family.

Apart from orchids we saw an impressive collection of ginger family plants - unbeknown to us banana plants, lilies, bird of paradise plants amongst other similar wide leafed plants all belong to the ginger family!
